i still think that Hoshiiro Girldrop, a completely fake anime meant to fool the watchers of Pop Team Epic into thinking they were watching idol trash, got a completely animated intro and a banging theme song is a sign that sometimes running with a joke way farther than seems logical can be a good thing.
It was even better in manga form, because after Pop Team Epic had been ‘cancelled’, bkub did a whole thing about how Hoshiiro Girldrop was his next project and did a week’s worth of strips before the reveal:
The most implausible thing about My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic isn’t the magic talking horses, it’s the notion that a graduate student, a professional athlete and a small business owner would be able to coordinate their schedules well enough to hang out on a regular basis.
